4 Simple Ways to Find Employment

  Bitter Staff /   July 7, 2017 /   Endings /   Leave a Comment

Searching for employment can often seem like a never-ending task.  It can feel as though you are doing the same thing, day in and day out, and never moving forward. Perhaps now is the time to try a different approach. If your current search for employment isn’t working for you, why not consider doing something different? In a competitive job market, different is sometimes the best way to be. A unique approach will allow you to stand out from the crowd and is more likely to impress your potential employers. Below are four simple ways to find employment that you might not have previously considered.

Build a resume that stands out

You may have already gathered that, in terms of experience, it is handy if your resume stands out from the crowd. However, have you thought about creating a resume that stands out because of its design? Why not create a resume online? Using this free software, you will be able to create a professional, yet unique, resume that will help to demonstrate your willingness to go the extra mile. Imagine your personalized resume sat amongst a pile of plain white, A4 resumes. Which document do you think is more likely to leave a lasting impression?

Join an online community

LinkedIn is a great way to build contacts and ensure that potential employers know who you are. Invest some serious time into making sure that your LinkedIn profile is as impressive as possible. Try to encourage people you know to recommend you for certain skills and be certain that all of your information is as up to date as possible. Also, remember to keep an eye out for any businesses that you might want to work for and try to build links with their current employees or seek advice from people who used to work there.

Go in person

While it may be tempting to complete all of your applications in the comfort of your own home, visiting somewhere in person can also work. In fact, a face to face conversation is a lot more memorable than a couple of brief emails. Why not visit a job center to seek advice or go to the offices of the company you wish to work for? Take your resume with you and try to make a great impression at reception. Don’t just focus on getting to see the big boss, be polite to everyone you meet, as you never know who could help you secure your dream job.

Secure an internship

If you are struggling to find full-time employment, why not consider an internship as a great way to improve your resume? An internship will give you valuable experience for future applications. You may even find that a position opens up at the company you are interning for, this would be great news as you will already have your foot in the door. Even if this doesn’t happen, be sure to leave your contact details behind so that you can be approached with any future opportunities.
