Bitter Newsroom Lawyer, News & Views Leave a Comment

Quick headlines from the Bitter Newsroom:

In a scandal that is sure to be worse than the time I tried to sell my brother, “Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested Tuesday morning in Chicago on two counts each of federal corruption charges stemming from allegations Blagojevich was trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder.” Apparently there was no “Buy It Now” button on the eBay listing.  [Fox News]

When it comes to the “fad in the legal field to insert the word ‘justice’ in as many organizations’ names as possible,” Washington State is guilty by Association—or better, The Association for Justice fka Trial Lawyers Association.  Tons of new description in there now.  [SeattlePI.com]

Marc Dreier, the now-famous NY attorney arrested last week, has been criminally charged with leading the band to sell “phony financial instruments” to the tune of $100 million dollars.  [Wall Street Journal]

The request for the Supreme Court to hear a case about Obama’s “natural-born” citizenship status fell on deaf ears.  [Washington Post]

Now that the guest of honor has been roasted, the fringe player co-defendants in the OJ trial will get their moment to shine—likely with a probation sentence.  (Boo.  Not dramatic enough.  Needs pyrotechnics.) [Associated Press]
