Quick headlines from the Bitter Newsroom:

O’Neal.  Isn’t that the patronymic Irish surname meaning “substance abuse?” Seeing as Tatum O’Neal’s arrest in June for buying crack didn’t scare anyone in the family straight, actor and role model Ryan O’Neal and his son Redmond (who’s mom is Farrah Fawcett) were arrested yesterday for drug possession.  As they say, the family that abuses together loses together.  [NY Daily News]

Famous French chef and world restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten has settled a lawsuit for $1.75 million.  The money will be split amongst employees of his several New York eateries who claimed they were deprived tips.  The $1.75 million settlement includes $583,000 for legal fees—though it is unclear whether that amount is before or after 20% gratuity for the attorneys.  [Reuters]

Maybe The Sorprano’s desensitized us to mob bosses more than we thought.  When reading this article about Vincent “Vinny Gorgeous” Basciano, nothing seems too out of the ordinary or unexpected.  Just your run-of-the-mill mobster serving a life sentence for racketeering and murder who threatened to kill his appeal judge.  Then you read: “He once owned the Hello Gorgeous beauty salon.” Hm.  I guess you know you’ve lived an interesting life when the one non-criminal fact about yourself is more shocking than your list of convictions.  []

Of course it shouldn’t be illegal to sag your pants in southern Florida.  Have you felt that balmy heat?  People gotta air out a little.  Sheesh.  [AP]

According to The Snark, law students can experience Biglaw rejection at one of three stages in the interview process.  And rejection leads to bitterness.  But apparently so does acceptance, so it’s kind of a push.  You all end up here one way or another.  []

What do a priest and a lawyer have in common?  No, this not a setup for a joke, you insensitive ass.  They were both busted recently for intent to distribute drugs.  But, did you hear the one about the truck driver, the priest and the lawyer?  Now that’s a joke.  That one’s hilarious!  [, U.S. News & World Report]
