Which brings us to BCBG Max Azria. I get that this was an homage to 1970s skateboard & surfer culture/clothing, and all that stuff is cool, so this collection could have been great. And I don’t hate bucket hats. But it’s like Max went to Coachella, did peyote, and yelled, “Design ALL THE THINGS. Leave no element out!!! TOTALLY TUBULAR, DUDE!!!” There was just too much. Like a giant pile of overdesigned laundry. Literally the only thing to like in this collection was the long-sleeved tie-dyed tees. Psychotic Southwestern prints, irrational layering of sweater tanks, overworked pants that drowned out the otherwise groovy board stripes, and terrible, angry-making shoes . . . I’m gonna need anger management classes to get past those shoes. And are those leg warmers??
VERDICT: KILL KILL KILL.
