Bully, “Trying” (video)
Fearless auteur Alicia Bognanno delivers an earnest plea of self-doubt and perseverance over the kind of guitar-bass-drums backing that never goes out of style. You might be tempted to write it off as another better-than-average indie jam until the chorus hits and Bognanno’s magnificent howl shows way more than it tells.
Feels Like is out 6/23 on StarTime International. Limited edition red or blue vinyl is available for preorder on Bully’s bandcamp site. Catch them on tour this summer with Best Coast or at a festival near you. Tickets are available at bullythemusic.com.

Vic Mensa, “U Mad” feat. Kanye West (video)
New visuals for Vic Mensa’s “U Mad” include extras from the Half-Life movie wandering around taking notes and grinding out sparks in a hotel conference room while a straitjacketed Mensa writhes passionately; Kanye in a DONDA sweatshirt; and a lot of red.
Sidenote: are there edits available that keep the swearing and leave out Ray Rice/Ike Turner lines? Why don’t rappers ever mention Chris Brown like this?
