Growing up in Spelling Manor must’ve been heaven on earth. It was 56,000 square feet, so li’l Tori Spelling could boast to her classmates that she lived in the largest home in Los Angeles. It had 124 rooms, a bowling alley, and an ice rink. Tori didn’t want for anything in the material realm.
From the ’70s on into the ’90s, her dad, Aaron, was the king of network TV and produced such hits as Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat, Dynasty, Charmed, and, of course, Beverly Hills 90210—which cast Tori as Donna Martin. We know what you’re thinking, but there was no nepotism involved. Tori totally landed the role based on talent.
Why are you smiling?
All good things must come to an end, though, and in 2006, Aaron passed away and left the lion’s share of his half-billion-dollar fortune to his wife, Candy. Tori and her brother, Randy, were reportedly “only” left less than a million each.
While Candy tightened the purse strings, Tori had to adjust to this new lifestyle of—how do you say—paying for your life on your own. The girl has been quite creative in raising funds: selling wedding invitations, broadcasting what was left of her dignity, and even trying to make the most of being a klutz at Benihana.
None of it worked for long apparently because Tori is now being sued by American Express for failing to pay her $37,981.97 bill.
According to docs obtained by TMZ, she attempted to make a payment on June 26 last year…in the amount of $1,070, but it bounced.
AMEX is demanding immediate payment of the full balance, which includes interest.
At least Tori has her sweet, nurturing mother Candy to fall back on, right?
