Remember back in grade school when you had to watch your every move so as not to be teased for the rest of your natural born life? One wrong step and you’d be permanently branded. For instance, in first grade, a boy in my class peed his pants. The poor kid was only 6 years old and had to go. Nature and all. To this day, when I see his image float across social media, I think to myself, “That’s the guy who peed his pants.” No matter that it’s a touching photo of him and his kids perfectly arranged around a Christmas tree. All I can think about is the puddle under his desk. Cruel, right?
The fact is, when you’re associated with nasty shit, it tends to stick, even if you are later cleared of said nasty shit.
That brings us to a defamation lawsuit filed by Wu-Tang Clan–affiliated rapper Marques Johnson against TMZ for misidentifying him as the Wu-Tang Clan–affiliated rapper who cut off his own penis last April, which was actually Andre Johnson, aka Christ Bearer. We can understand the confusion, as both of their last names are Johnson. That’s right—Johnson. We now know Andre was high on PCP and sleep deprived when he decided to throw his manhood to the wind and jump off a second-story balcony in North Hollywood, California. Here is Andre explaining the whole situation:
Marques had a perfect alibi against the penis-chopping incident: He was in jail. So when TMZ posted the incorrect name, the rest of the Internet vetted the info before smearing it all over the world wide web. Nah, just kidding. It went everywhere. Marques is suing not only Harvey and company, but a gaggle of media outlets that ran the same misinformation. He says he not only had to be moved to protective custody because other inmates were harassing him, but the story has hurt is career.
What a pisser.
